UPDATE: The book club will be meeting at the Kennett Friends Meeting each Wednesday.

“Joy is much bigger than happiness…while happiness is often seen as dependent on external circumstances, joy is not”. But how do we find it?

A group to discuss “The Book of Joy,” written by the Dalai Lama and Arch Bishop Desmond TuTu (co-written by Doug Abrams) will begin meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at First Baptist Church. Depending on the interest of the group the discussions will continue for 4-6 weeks. We will explore the nature of joy as expounded by these two great spiritual leaders – the one Christian, the other Buddhist.

The discussion will be facilitated by Nick Everhart. Nick is a biologist, a former deacon at First Baptist Church, and has spent time at a Buddhist monastery.

We will be joined by a group from the Kennett Friends Meeting who will add another spiritual perspective to the discussion.

Please sign up in advance by contacting Nick at nickeverhart@verizon.net so that we will have an idea of how many people to expect. You will need to purchase a copy of “The Book of Joy” (Avery, New York, 2016; available from Amazon and at other book stores) and have begun reading the first few chapters before the first meeting. For additional information contact Monica Fragale (610-444-5320) or Nick Everhart (610-724-5703).
