Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays. It represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring temptation and preparing to begin his ministry. Each Sunday represents a “mini-Easter” when the community comes together in joyful anticipation of the Resurrection.
Our sermon series this Lenten season will focus on Jesus’ encounters with women.
Jesus turned his world upside down as he treated women with a dignity and respect they rarely knew. He cared about who they were as people created in the image of God. He wanted to see they succeeded and grow in all areas of their lives. Jesus spoke words of hope, promise, and a future into the lives of women who often did not hear such words.
Jesus’ interaction with women is just one more time we see the fulfillment of his words, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Pastor Dan, Nancy Nicewonger, George Fresolone, Dr. Chris Wells & Don Poole III will help us look at these encounters Jesus had with women throughout the Lenten season.
