FBC’s Senior Ministry
The Senior Ministry at First Baptist Church will mark its 13th year in 2017.
The monthly gathering for senior citizens from around the community first began in March 2004. The focus was on recognizing seniors and ensuring they felt welcomed and loved.
The Lay Ministry for Seniors was tasked with planning activities that promoted fun and friendship; providing encouragement and spiritual support; and reaching out to seniors within the church.
As the event has grown and attracted seniors from the community and beyond, the Senior Ministry now focuses on events that provide times of fellowship and community.
The first luncheon was held on April 22, 2004.
We continue to have monthly luncheons which include a delicious meal, fellowship, and a program. The programs feature musical programs, informational presentations or inspiring stories.
Approximately 50 to 60 people attend each month from all over Southern Chester County – and even a few from Delaware County. Sign-ups are not required; just come and enjoy the food, fellowship and fun.
Once you have visited for the first time, we’ll record your address and be sure to send you an e-mail or a postcard as a reminder each month. From January through June we meet the last Thursday of the month at noon. We do not meet in July as Vacation Bible School takes over the church with programs for kids. From August through October, we return to meeting the last Thursday of the month.
Because of the busy holiday season, we meet the first Thursday in December.
